Some updates to this site
Occasionally I get excited about working on orum.com. Now is one of those times, and I’ve made a few changes that I like.
On the visual side, I added a new, different picture to the About page. It’s from my 2004 trip to Germany with Emily. I like it (click it to see the uncropped version). My hair is longer than usual, I’m wearing a suit and it has this cool sepia tone (real, not Photoshopped) and some random woman in the back. All very interesting. Anyway, enough about that. Visually, there are no other changes because I like the minimalist look.
On the programmatic side, I changed a variety of things, mostly having to do with the Markup plugin and external links. Basically, it goes through and checks to see if any links are to external sites. If they are, they will open in a new window and get a nice little graphic indicating that next to them.
I also changed it so that surrounding text by single asterisks will make it bold, and surrounding it by single underscores will italicize it. It used to be two asterisks or underscores to make things bold and a single of either to make it italic. Ok, so this is only something I care about.
